Jürgen Fritz is the co-founder and co-organiser of IPA, creative director of ZOOM! festival and co-founder Black Market International. As a trained musician Jürgen’s performance art has been heavily influenced by rhythm. Jürgen’s workshop challenge questions the borders of social and gender codes we will create an inspiring and challenging situation for new aspects and possibilities in our own work.
Verena Stenke from Germany and Andrea Pagnes from Venice are the artist duo behind VestAndPage. VestAndPage are the most acclaimed reprentatives of contemporary Performance art from Italy to date; their work and live performances have gone global from Europe, Asia to Latin America. Their art stems from the fragility of the individual and it’s surroundings, researching private, social and environmental spheres through precariousness, transformation, memory, loss of control and authenticity.
The Artist Residency will be in Glastonbury, the town most famously known for the biggest arts festival in the world. The Performance Platform will in Bristol, where the people of Bristol will be invited to join us at the Arnolfini.
We are proud to reveal the performance platform event venue will be the Arnolfini, the Centre for Contemporary Arts based in the heart of Bristol city centre. The venue will play host to a part of the programme’s performance schedule across the two days, Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th October 2015. The Arnolfini plays a huge role within the South West art scene and presents a number of groundbreaking and thought provoking exhibitions which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors on a yearly basis.
IPA grounds a strong belief on performance happening anywhere, and with this year’s theme of Where Performance Happens we are focusing on a number of important landmarks within Bristol city centre. We want to build connections both internationally and locally and we can only do this by making our performances accessible and confrontational. We will be announcing the key landmarks within future weeks. Watch this space.
The Earth & Spirit Centre in Glastonbury will play host to the artist residency from 12th – 19th October 2015. This will be our temporary home as our workshop leaders take participants through a series of workshops, talks and collaborations. With such a tranquil and cultural landmark town as your background landscape, don’t miss out on this opportunity. We are still looking for artists to participate in our residency!
